I don’t know why this has to be done from the command prompt instead of just through Windows Explorer.ħ. You will then rename the file to simply “.dropbox”. On the command line you will switch to the drive letter of your NEST device (for me it was F:). You will then open up the Command Prompt in Windows (windows key + r to open the “run” box and then type “cmd”.)Ħ. At this point, you will have two files in the device: “Technical ist” and “ResetToDefaults.dropbox”ĥ. The agent will email you a file called “ResetToDefaults.dropbox”. I was using a Windows 10 PC and my NEST showed up as drive F: There is a file on that directory ( i.e., already in the NEST device) called “Technical ist” Make sure you can connect to your NEST device and see this file before contacting support. You must be able to connect to your NEST device with a USB cable to place this file on your device. You will be emailed a special file by the agent. Specialist after a few minutes of gathering information, including the device serial number (which was actually not on my device anywhere - but they were able to proceed without it).ģ.
